Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I remember a child at my primary school being sent for punishment when he put a foot on the bench in order to drive down on a tough and stringy piece of meat with a toothless knife. They thought it was disrespectful to the cooks.

What I have to say regarding dinner today properly belongs on another thread :-p

I'm looking forward to my (half a giant) pizza when it is finally served. I must not say anything about when it is being served. (Cooking it myself was NOT an option.)

My very wet kit from parkrun is still in the car. I should probably get it whilst there is a break in the rain.

I have not moved on from the ‘bread and pizza’ stage. I like to think it’s part of my delightfully quirky personality.

L is currently not liking anything and being particularly fussy, E lives on fresh air some days, H is fairly easy but doesn't like roast dinners.

I don't like the planning of meals at the moment, in fact I'm not sure when I ever have tbh, I like cooking, but thinking about what to cook, nah.

I had to eat what was on my plate as a child too, it was a weekly menu and always contained potato, a veg and some variety of "meat"... mind you that was back in the day when "meat" was corned or luncheon more often than not!! I've been watching Julia in Iceland, really great scenery. :)

My mum still recounts that she hated egg custard and was excused it as a child. But then she was given it while staying at an aunt's and being brought up to be polite, ate it. Some time later aunt and her mum were talking, subject came up, "Jessie doesn't like egg custard". "She ate it when she was at ours". Thereafter she was made to eat it at home as well. Aged 95 she still feels hard done by😂😂

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
