Making a ‘costume’ for Wednesday night’s work Christmas party. Theme is characters from favourite childhood books. I’m going as Saucepan Man. I bought a set of play kitchen equipment and have pinned the pans and lids to a jacket. The serving spoons will become earrings and the spatula, ice-cream scoop and meat fork have been turned into a necklace. It’s not my best effort but all I feel inclined to do this year.

Jeez Paula, I think I’d just make my apologies and not go. I’m rubbish at coming up with anything like that, I have the creativity of a porcupine. And an uncreative porcupine at that.

Very creative Paula.
On a sofa, watching a programme about Christmas carols with Lucy Worsley.
