I didn't know Rumer Godden had written for children. I've only read Black Narcissus and The Lady and the Unicorn. By her, I mean.

She also wrote The Diddakoi. One of my favourite childhood books.

When I was little I had a book by Rumer Godden called ‘Tottie: The story of a doll’s house’. Which in retrospect is quite a bleak tale about some dolls who are living perfectly happily until a fancy new doll comes along and turns the head of one of the little girls that owns them. Now I think about it, it might be a little bit allegorical.
