Thats my kind of gardening Fragile Do Not Bend 😂

I need to go and get some more suet blocks and also su flowers anyway so will get some rose feed as well Hann.

Also is it meal worms for blackbirds? They've been at the suet in the last few days as I assume lack of water is making worm hunting hard work.

Sorry for all the qs - we had sparrows only in the old place but now have about 20 species on the Merlin app so keen to make sure all okay.

Blackbirds in my garden are stuffing themselves (and their youngsters) with live mealworms. I bought them because I thought they were better than the suet pellets they were eating by the ton. Ground is hard and dry so earthworms are a bit tricky (but also the blackbirds are incredibly lazy in my garden).

I don't feed them, but I grow food... I have currants and raspberries uncovered especially for the birds... They take invertebrates out of the pond too...
If you want, you can water a patch of soil. Then stick a fork in it and wriggle it. It will bring worms up...

It is most important they have water to keep their plumage in good condition and to drink.

Does anyone know (a) if it's possible and (b) how easy it is to transplant an oriental poppy?

Will it sulk if I do so?

I've got one that's doing exceptionally well where it is, but I'm going to have to move it somewhere else if and when I extend.

Where it is now is extremely shaded (apart from v early morning sun), which is a little odd as I thought they liked full sun.

They are hard to transplant fozzy but do it when it dies down 8n a week or two. Split it rather than dig up the whole plant. Move, water and cross fingers.

That timing might work - I'm about have the last flipping leylandii taken out next week and then I can start digging in a little manure and sorting out the garden properly.

I'm hoping it's going to rain as I want to dig a wildlife pond and it'll be very hard work if stays dry and the ground is as hard as it is currently.

Yes, definitely worth waiting for rain!!! Also to fill it up. I put out all my containers: flexitubs, buckets etc, to fill the pond as well.
