3M (aka MarkyMarkMark)
I have just planted 75 snowdrops ("in the green"). I've purposely put them in clumps since they look much more natural that way! Some are singles, some are doubles. I've also planted 75 anemone corms. (Anemone Blanda, if anyone is interested!). They recommended a spacing of one every 3 or 4 inches....that's a lot of dibber holes. It's a bit wet out there underfoot, but I hope that gives them a good start rather than helping them to rot instead! I think it ought to start to dry out now though. And I've removed the unidentified greenery from between my rows of onions. Whatever it is wasn't there when I planted the setts, so whatever it is is a weed by my definition! And cleared all the microweeds from between the raspberries. This was after 11 miles running this morning. I needs a sit down and some lunch. ![]() |

Good work! I'm noticing my "beautifully" weeded garden soil is developing a green tinge! Out with the hoe next time this wind drops enough. ![]() |

Oh yes. I put a bunch of snowdrops in. Seeds going well, Courgette, Aubergine, Cosmos, Cavalero Nero, seeds not so well cucumber californian poppy and asparagus ( which was a punt). All albums doing well...considering a few late peas.

*wonders whether albums are edible* Two daffodil plants which have been coming up "blind" for years have this year suddenly decided to flower. Pleased about that. I wonder what persuaded them. |

Columba Perhaps your daffodils needed a "rest" or they have received enough "food"? Several years ago I had to move my daffodil bulbs (a large amount) because a neighbour complained about their location. I used to get a cheerfully wonderful display ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have been landscaping around my now finished new building: making paths, extending my parking slightly, putting up cjestnut paling and chicken netting to keep rabbits out, put paving slabs down. Tomorrow after my client, I will be making a gate from offcuts from my building, spare bits of chestnut paling from the fence by the bike shed and a couple of hinges I found. Daryl is putting up the 6 ft chestnut paling and pulled out two posts from my pleached trees they no longer need to use as gate posts for this new gate I will be making. Doing things this way means no need to pave this area, which is just my private access to my house from my parking. Re-using materials we had to remove for the building work. Not having to fork out for paving is seriously helpful! |

Daffodils take quite a while to get going I find. The first year they do well then invariably, they struggle for 2-3 years until they suddenly take off and take over ![]() |

That’s interesting. I put in a few new bulbs last autumn, which are now flowering in a most gratifying way. So I can expect them not to flower again until 2024 or -5?
