Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes, but wild boar is tasty ;-)

Undoubtedly though, there are bigger problems in the world!

Thank you for comments on roses; I'll do them this week at some point.

Fragile Do Not Bend
Remember my mystery plant from page 646? The leaves aren’t out properly yet but I think it’s a peony.

One of the roses I bought last year is now just brown sticks. I'm going to find out what David Austin's customer service is like. The others are all thriving.

I hastily took a bunch of cuttings of soft fruit bushes a couple of days before we moved out of the old house in mid-February. Nothing more complicated than taking the secateurs, cutting off a few pieces of each of the blackcurrant, whitecurrant, redcurrant, gooseberry and jostaberry bushes and shoving the twigs into soil in pots.

Went outside to soak up some rays in the hope it would help my snivelly Covid infestation, and was pleased to see that all of the cuttings have buds and in some cases leaves.

V-rap usually they have a 1 year guarantee.
I don't like the quality and price of David Austin. A client bought thousands of pounds worth and we had quite a few failures. I don't remember what result she got from complaining...
I use Trevor White. Much better and bigger plants and £10 a rose cheaper!!! And never had any fail...

I suspect my dad will tell me that you can't beat Lidl for roses.

Good news about the cuttings, Cerrertonia :)

All the odds and ends of shrubs and trees I bought last autumn seem to be doing well in their pots with the possible exception of one fuchsia. I now need to think about permanent positions for them.
