Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Rosehip, yes it was all in one bag, and yes I was going to cycle home with it :-o (I have carried similar weights before ;-) but......
as I was loading the bike to cycle home, someone who happened to live in the next street of my village was also about to leave the GC and they recognised me (I've written elsewhere how "famous" :-p I am in my village!) and offered to take the compost home for me instead of carrying it back on my bike. How kind. I accepted :-)

Very fortuitous Flatlander...otherwise you would have had an interesting resistance session! ;)

Incorrectly I made an assumption that Flatlander had a trailer on fitted to his bike]

As my boiler burns wood pellets I have lots of wood ash. I add it to the compost. Never tried digging it directly into the ground.

This afternoon I have been digging out an area where I grew chard last year. Several chard plants have survived the winter and are growing up again from the base. I moved three of them to the bed where I'm planning to grow this year's chard.

Has anyone tried this, and if so was it successful?

Wood ash is high in potassium, so good for fruit production. I scatter it around my fruit trees and bushes. I wonder if it is good for tomatoes?

Oops, just realised I wrote 60kg - I meant 60L! *embarrassed face*.

I am "famous" because I run and/or cycle every day, so people see me and because I am distinctive, they recognise me :-)

60L is not an inconsiderable load to heave on a bike!
