Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Fantastic report @Sorequads and well done again.

Hahaha to you @stevieg. There are actually some flat bits on the race. It was 6.9km and 300m or so I believe. That hill is and I believe it's 12. 5% which isn't that steep around here, but it's enough in a race. The start and finish is steeper and more technical, but it's not the hardest of fell races to be fair. I think a BS category. Next up I'm hoping to do Youlgreave Pommie Panter, but it's partial navigation and longer so we will see. Also has a bog section 😂

Also the idea of you running up and down random streets to make up distance does make me chuckle!

Was going to say it's a bit harsh calling it a BS category, then remembered the categorisations😘.
Having done that one race, which i'm sure was an AS, i remember trawling through loads of others to see there were some absolutely insane ones, say 20miles, night, massive elevations, navigation required, warnings about taking whistles, warm clothes and saying your prayers before etc.

Not for me Bob!

EA committee signed me off today, so all goes properly through May 1st I expect.

Club emailed out how their 25/26 club champs will work. Quite a varied and stacked list of rules and regs, that would need a bit of strategy and attendance to compete!!

It's nice to do club champs, but have to make sure you still do the other races you want to do, and not let them take over.

Was a bit of a farce bearing in mind I'd specifically driven over there to do that route :)

Plenty of panting up hills. It's amazing how unfit hills can have you feeling at times. I suppose mentality and it needing to count, like in a race make a huge distance.

But all in was glad to get it done, but those runs you have to make the distance up painstakingly are never great.

Actually apologies Wirksworth was AS, the Youlgreave is BS. I'm surprised at that.

And fra claim the climbing today was 400m so that's interesting. Take all these things with a pinch of salt I think.

The harder the race the better I do @TR, I was 3:10 ahead of hubby today, 37 secs ahead at Derby 10k. He's going to catch me on the road soon I think.

Good news on the club change @stevieg

Hills are fantastic. Weights and running session in one.

Nicely done @Curly45

Great racing & writing from @Sorequads. Really enjoyed the analysis of your coachee experience & great to see you reap the rewards.

Here’s my lengthy blog post fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=498314
Short version 3:38:20 after 1:45:30 at halfway.

2nd half was ruined by a combo of lack of water & full sunshine not helped by my lack of LRs. I did pick it up from mile 24 though once I’d taken on water & the last 0.22M were the quickest of the race which is a first for me.

SQ - the report was as good as your execution. I'm chuffed it went so well for you, and I really appreciate you putting your trust in me for your training. For the record, I'm with TR. Another campaign will see you stronger and quicker, and I don't see why a 2:4x clocking isn't possible.

Jooligan - I felt the pain of the missed/dropped water in your report, and lol'd at the 'I'm accelerating - this never happens'! From where you were mere weeks ago you've got to be happy with that?

Curly - excellent racing. Well done, and congrats on the AG win. I love a down. I run them assuming I'm going to fall but somehow never have, though as I managed to trip over a raised tree root on the flat in xc once I'm putting that more down to luck than judgement! I dislike uphills so much I came up with a workout to maximise them so I need to do less 😂

SG - in all the time I was in a club I never once managed to do a full series of any of the club champs.

Only 2 runs (2m and 4m last week) as I was so wiped out from work (successive 60hr weeks, plus a bit more in the end) that I just chilled for the weekend.
Back out earlier for a steady 5+. Muggy, but enjoyable.

Absolutely @TippTop I’d predicted 3:38 on the Fetch race listing & that’s what I got. I didn’t really deserve better after 6 weeks training off a relatively low base. I’m sure the lack of miles would’ve resulted in a drop off at the end but without the water cock-up I’m sure I would’ve been able to hold it to around 3:35.

Congratulations again on your expert coaching. It’s been really interesting to watch. @Sorequads was already singing your praises when we caught up before the start.
Hopefully your workload will ease up a bit this week to allow you some balance.

Hi there - this thread started in 2010 over on RW and started as an improvement thread for myself under Moraghan's coaching, through to more of a general collaboration tool and place to share training and long winded race reports.

Thanks to the fetch community for allowing us to move over, and we'd welcome loads of new contributors adding to the thread, as we were definitely running on empty with a small bunch of posters near the end!
