Would definitely try local charities, Cats Protection and RSPCA/Scottish Spa - when I worked in a cattery we had a few cats in through SSPCA, who had been called as owners had taken ill.

I think we may have found our new cat
Visited a local cat charity and reserved a tabby and white 2 year old female. Provided we pass the home visit we'll be able to collect her next week.
Looking forward to having a new furry friend around the house!

Hurrah on new cats.
I was relieved when the nice lady from Woking cats protection league showed up at our home and pronounced the still almost building site fit for purpose.

Steady Edina
I managed to find a place for mum’s 12 yr old cat in a local animal sanctuary. I miss her

That's nice that you found her somewhere Edina, but sad that she's not with you. The cats that we saw today seemed relatively happy and had nice living quarters.
Home visit is scheduled for tomorrow so if that goes OK she could be with us quite soon. I'll post a photo as soon as I can take a photo without scaring her. I'm a bit nervous, hope she doesn't hate it here
