Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I think Katie is right, charm grockles, turn them into fetchies and invite them along next year. (And get them to vote for Fetch in next years running awards.)

Thanks as always to Fetchpoint for being a huge highlight of the day. You were all wonderful.

Help me with a puzzle - who were the (un)lucky recipients of my very, very sweaty hug then?! I spotted Fetch himself, but one poor lady was caught, possibly very unwillingly(!), in the middle!

You weren't difficult to spot, not for me anyway. Knew where you were going to be and the Red and Yellow not hard to see! :-) G

One of the ladies was Katie, and I suspect the other one was either LindsD, or a lady called Clare (not sure of her Fetch name, soz).

The "magic string" has led to a huge reduction in the no of encroachers, but without a mass of Fetchies filling "our" space it is always going to be difficult to stop other people. In general though, most of them are only looking out for one person and then head off to the finish as soon as their runner has gone past.

In answer to V'rap, fewer whistles this year than previous years as there were no "annoying noisy thing" sellers around as there have been in the past. Plenty of other irritations such as tambourines (a particular trigger for me!), those inflatable bar things, rattles and the plastic hand clapper things. Earplugs may have to be the answer!! For me, I think being there early and having everything build up gradually around me is much easier to deal with than arriving when it's in full swing!

Me, HappyG. I was delighted to have a hug. Clare might have been in there too. Clare is not a Fetchie (yet...)

Thank you Fetch, Linds, Katie and mystery-not-yet-a-Fetchie-Clare. Of course, she may now be put off for life...! She did look a bit terrified! :-) G

You've got to embrace (see what I did there?!) the sweaty hug if you're going to be a Fetchie!!
