I've got printout for the code, and printouts for the etickets for the train, and the hotel. No need to be worrying about if you can get mobile signal at the right point, or messing about trying to find the email or whatever app it was that the next e-thing-code you need was in and any passwords for said apps.

Old school bit of paper with the numbers on to keep things simple.

Yep, I took a printout of my email, but the chap that gave me my number didn't use the QR code, just looked for my name in the box of envelopes!

The guy queuing next to me had his QR code scanned from his phone OK though.

Saves on stickers on the Green start then as they can print the pink dots onto the numbers for the TV spotters to be able to notice the celebs.

Apparently as they have something like 10% defer it saves printing and packing the envelopes, so lots of green points (see what I did there)

Having collected my number, still undecided whether to run as piriformis (sciatica) is still causing discomfort if I run it will be for fun, and not a time

Yeah, at least 10% of those issued with numbers don't turn up to the start line. Some will defer and not collect, and some will collect numbers but still not make the line. Testing the number printing system for the Green numbers won't make much difference to wastage for this year, but does give them a chance to see if they could roll it out for the whole lot of us next year.

It's still not a huge amount of wastage though that would be compensated for by an on-demand system. I suspect they are more interested in making sure that numbers aren't swapped around. Pink stickers for about 30 runners doesn't seem particularly onerous as an issue either!

I quite like the idea of running for fun rather than a time, as I don't think I gained the full London experience by running for a time last time. I can still defer, but the pain is as much an irritation, probably hurts more sitting down than running, and have done a couple of 20 milers at 20-30 seconds above my target marathon pace with it so will have a gentle run out tomorrow night and decide
