If you're happy to go and enjoy the day and won't be doing yourself any damage photo you may as well.

Photoset.. I don't suppose you can you get your hands on a powerful pain killer from somewhere? Nerve problems are different to muscle problems - they don't seem to get any worse if you run; or indeed any better. When I had piriformis/sciatica pain about 3 years ago I used to take prescribed tramadol - one tablet simply killed the pain for about 5 hours and allowed me to run in comfort. In the end a cortisone injection cured it completely within 4 days. I'm no medical expert but just thought I would share my experience. I would certainly never recommend a pain killer to mask a muscle or tendon niggle/injury.

have got some really strong ibuprofen 800mg, but am reluctant to use them due to the issues with hydration that they are reported to cause, may search out some Tramadol or codeine, I know a pharmacist if i get desperate, really a case of seeing how my little test run friday evening goes, have been in the gym, and cycling with no ill effects whatsoever, its sitting down that is apain in the moon

best of luck all VMLMers luck

If there's anything we can get for you at Fetcpoint (mile 22/texaco garage) do let me know. I have a bucket-load of Gu (and maybe other) gels .

If it's all going wrong there will probably be gin and lager. Always hugs or a kick up the moon as needed

Careful with Tramadol photoset - I can't take the stuff, sends me doolally. Main issue with ibuprofen wouldn't be dehydration. Possible issues are (cut and pasted):

Kidney damage, because they inhibit hormones that help normalize blood flow to the kidneys. Hyponatremia, an electrolyte imbalance that can cause the brain to swell. Increased blood pressure. When you add this to exercise, your blood pressure could reach life-threatening levels.
risk of heart attack because they block an enzyme called cyclooxygenase (COX) that normally protects the heart. Nausea, diarrhoea, intestinal bleeding, and cramps due to the blocking of the enzyme COX that also protects the stomach lining from digestive acids.

Having said that I have run after taking NSAIDs and the risk if you do it as a one off rather than having been taking them for several days is probably less (though don't quote me on that - anyone can have a one off bad reaction to anything). Is it worth the risk?

My number was collected for me yesterday so one less thing to worry about. Just need to get on with this carb loading business now.

Slightly delayed. Should get there by 10:30. Looks like I've actually got the cold. No need for the app. You'll be able to track me by the trail of luminous snot. 🤧
