Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I gave a wry smile when Hastings said about Buckells 'failing upwards' - I have definitely worked with people like that!

I've just watched last night's ep. - and I quite enjoyed its low key approach. Not a shot fired suggests Mercurio avoided 'going Hollywood', as the high energy confrontations had already been 'done.'

Is the door open for another series? Well, the principals are still alive. Ted faces due process but it likely suits the Chief Constable's & DCS Carmichael's purposes to keep the line on systemic corruption not existing.

Just watched Buckells too on BBC.

The more I think about last nights episode the more I thibk it was the right way to go. I enjoyed the series, and last night but felt let down at the end but the end needed to happen to explain and wrap it up as such.

I think there is a series 7

It certainly has the feeling of an ending. Taking down the portraits of everyone from all the previous series was a way of telling us the storyline was being put to bed. And I loved the shot of the three of them in the lift, all back together and definately (;-)) not bent.

Do you think Buckles is a metaphor for Johnson? Risen to the top through incompetence, immorality and turning a blind eye to corruption....or should that be on the politics thread?

I think that’s a bit harsh on Buckles

I enjoyed it, the van switchover was clever! And good to see those two wardens get lifted.

I think there is one more series.

Patricia seemed troubled that she was barking up the wrong tree with AC-12,

And might want to solve the institutional corruption thing herself?

Also, Ted has gotta go thru due process

Surely Kate doesn’t fancy Steve?!? I mean we know Steve fancies anything!

Spoilers ahead if you're not up to date. But not till the second post, as I'm nice that way.

BBC have commissioned series 6 to follow the upcoming series 5.
