A team without a sprinter is illegal Chris ;-). I know what you mean though, it will be interesting to see if GVA tries to get involved in sprints. You had three riders that should have done well today so could have been higher. Already thinking Rolland won't out perform Alaphilippe (unless he forgets about GC and goes for the mountains jersey) so that's a potential mistake. |

Similar puncture for Porte as the one he suffered a couple of Tours ago. Seem to recall he lost 1m25s that time. Without wishing to scupper his event, although it might, if he doesn,t get a puncture he has a "jour sans"; having suffered one I just hope he won,t get the other. I agree with ITV in that both Porte and Contador have lost their chances, Contador maybe a bit less than Porte, acknowledging that they are both good at TT. Today will tell if Contador can hold on. If he finishes in the bunch then his recovery is on track, if he gets dropped as the last 5k speed gets too much then that will be him finished. Greipel today.Though my heart suggests Cav, in honouring the jersey yesterday he might regret not sitting up and pootling in. |

Gobi, Nice! DB - My thoughts are that the third week provides enough terrain for anyone that's strong to make up a couple of minutes, the question is will anyone with that time loss be strong enough. I think Porte can make up some time with good TTs, the issue is making up time in the mountains. I agree with your assessment of Contador. It seems yesterday's low speed accident (apparently T Martin was the first to go down causing a pile up) was worse than the brutal looking high speed one the day before. Inrng says there's some knee issues which doesn't sound promising. |
