Sounds like another crazy stage. Sad for Cav but kudos to those 4. If Froome doesn't blow he is going to be way too strong for this lot.

I did wonder about the wisdom of Froome putting so much effort in before tomorrow's Ventoux stage but it's just been announced (https://twitter.com/inrng/status/753255485978079232) that the stage will be shortened due to high winds forecast

Yeah just saw that Nelly. Love that climb, sad to see it go. I'm sure it will still be lively.

Another crazy day, in a way similar to stage 13 a few years ago when Cav had a hand sling from Kawasaki and went on to win the stage after crosswinds blew apart the peloton. Given what we now know about Ventoux it seems like a gamble won but the climb to Chalet Reynard is still tough. Sky must be absolutely pinging after Froome has taken the initiative on these two stages |

This is why I like Etixx, Sagan and Contador, and why I might start liking Froome (I'm neutral on him atm).

These inconsiderate professional cyclists. I heard about the break and assumed Thomas finished fourth. Then see he took his foot off the gas and came in with the bunch in 31st. Doesn't he realise what's at stake?

So Ventoux is now down from 15km to 10km, which makes it a steeper (but shorter climb), that flattens out a bit near the end. It's the same finish as Paris Nice right? In which case Michael Matthews might be one of the faves today...? Seems more like a stage that won't be quite the grimpeurs spectacle it would have been otherwise. cyclingnews.com Also I think Quintana's beginning to crack. Mentally if not physically.... this kind of moaning doesn't seem what you'd expect from a true contender: cyclingnews.com |
