As the replay showed he attacked while Froome was having issues. Though I always thought one of the unwritten rules is you don't do that but end of the day its racing, grab your chances when you can.

I think he'd already committed to the attack when Froome had his problem. I wouldn't expect him to sit up in those circumstances.

I assume he wasn't actually attacking Froome (he had no chance of getting that time back) but was just happy that Froome wouldn't be able to chase him down.
Nellers - I'm pretty sure the power analysis of this stage will show the Nibali's performance was nowhere near Froome's stage 10 performance.

Depends how they edit and adjust it, SPR. That power data is, as I understand it, pretty meaningless.
Anyway, my point remains. They are after Froome and are ignoring others who are in teams with form. Seems hypocritical to me.

At 1.7k to go a guy in cut offs a white polo shirt a white cap just lets a huge gob of spit at Froome. Glad I wasn,t there to see that as that guy would have his ass booted all the way down the mountain by me.
Fine ride by Froome to only lose 30odd seconds, great attack by Quintana to force a chase.
G sadly well off the back today so farewell to top 10 but still a great Tour from him.
I reckon Froome can just hold it tomorrow but I hope they have good security on the Alpe to try and prevent anything bad happening. Hope it gets shown on French TV and the spitter gets his just desserts.
Still annoyed at that.

The calculated performance as Vayer, et alk do it aren't edited and adjusted, they are based on a method of calculating power outputs needed to produce a performance.
No, the reason why Froome performances are highlighted is due to them being in a grey area of what is known as humanly possible. There may be other factors involved in why it becomes big news though (people not liking Sky for various reasons)

How is it calculated, SPR? Presumably they would need exact weight and gradient and speed at every point on the climb to calculate it by dead reckoning.
