Paid up, went for a run, managed about 10 yards before my hip gave out.

There’s a message in their somewhere!

Nice, sounds like everyone that wanted got in, one way or another :) Maybe not that oversubscribed?

Also see Michael Jones is offering a cheeky 10% off Ultra Trail Snowdonia (code TOTALLOSER) for anyone that didn't make it. Probably a terrible idea, but I'm oddly tempted by the 100 ...

I've not seen any numbers yet zp but the organisers have said that the number of entries exceeded their expectations and have consequently changed (i.e. lowered) the number of charity places that will come available going forward. There are also quite a few commenting on fb who didn't get in on both 50 and 100, so maybe the apparent success of Fetch folk is just a fortunate quirk. :-)

Based on Marc's comments I get the feeling that the 100 ballot was weighted in favour of completions/experience, whereas the 50 was a straight ballot.

I also wonder how many of those complaining on FB were as a result of not meeting the 100 entry criteria rather than being unlucky in the ballot. Previously the organisers have worked with people to qualify relevant experience but I doubt that's practical in this scenario.

I’ve wondered sometimes if high failure rates are good or bad for long races / challenges. High might be attractive for folk who want to be tested but put others off

I agree flanker. As yet I am not aware of anybody who has completed the 100 previosly that entered the ballot this year that was unsuccessful.

Is it bad form for the newbie to start a new thread for 2020?
