JohnnyO - sorry I missed you!
After a DNF at Mardale Head in the 50 2 years ago and finishing the 50 last year, this year I took on the 100. I've a terrible track record at 100 milers - 1 finish out of 4 before this weekend. For some daft reason I decided that the L100 was the race to try and prove to myself that I can gut out a 100 and having moved to Cumbria in December it was the right time to do it. Can't say my finish time is particularly impressive, but I did it. I hate going through the night during races, so going through two nights was always going to be tough and my god it was.
Great to briefly see Flanker (well done mate - great time - really pleased for you!) and Kinky during the race and FR spectating early on.
oh and FR - I didn't take any offence from your comments about the race distances. I'm not sure about the 50 being less than 50 but it is amusing in a sadistic way that the 100 is 105.

Thanks. Glad to see you made it through the rough patch and finished well.
There was a debate, I think on here earlier in the year, about entry costs and profiteering by the organisers so it seemed apt to share this...
"The event generated at estimated £38,000 which will be distributed to various charities and good causes throughout the North West. Beneficiaries include Air Ambulance, Mountain Rescue, footpath repairs and voluntary groups who support social and sporting activities for children."

No offence taken FR...just checked back and the SUUNTO measured 49.5miles on the nose. That did include half an hour of shuffling from the hall to the tent and back to the showers so prob more like 49.4miles.
What a cracking event, really enjoyed it and meeting a few fetchies out there. My first attempt at a 50 miler and loved every minute of it. Managed to finish with body and soul in one piece and not a single fall or blister...marvellous. That's the 100th marathon in the bag, now to decide what the next challenge should be

Lads and lasses, sometimes I type stuff that should stay between my ears and not in the public domain, I am truly sorry that anybody was offended. *goes to sit on the naughty step*

Hope everyone had a good race, must try and read through some blogs!
Had a few ups and downs myself, but bagged a PB - 26:04 for 14th. Fab.

I thought I actually saw you at Howtown Matt, but you were just leaving and I was in the flapjack queue. Never saw you on the hill afterwards though, so I assumed you had sped on to the finish.
I am sorely tempted to upgrade to the 100. The 50 is plenty challenge enough, but I feel that after 3 goes, I should at least try....
