Johnny, the first 30 of the hundred ( the hardest part of the course imho) conditions underfoot were the worst i've ever known. It was like a different course to last year ! With the rain we have had long grass and slipery mud was covering and inbetween all the jaggerd rocks on a lot of the decents. I normally make a lot of time downhill but it was lethal. Folk were going over ,sliding into others and taking them out. It was hard to overtake when you did have a good line as folk as you were scared of doing the same to someone. I ran that section in the ice at christmas and flew down but it wasn't on this year.
The bogs on section 2 were not just a series of bogs but almost constant . Never seen so much saturated ground my feet were soaked for 31 hours . Mind , i don't have a single blister - glad i stuck to my shoe choice of Muzono wave harrier.
Rob thanks for the Tip, thery are in the fridge.

That would explain all those people covered in mud that I saw! I,have limited experience of this, but there is little I like running in less than waterlogged bog.

2 Flat Feet
I think I have trench foot. My feet just never dried out and I can concur with the slipping and sliding!

I think you are all bloody amazing - we were at Coniston this week and I was hoping to see the start as I did last year.. but they changed the weekend? Anyhow.. 50 and 100 - each are amazing to be having a go at. Flip it's good to have the reality check, they called off the tiddler fell run I was going to have a pop at and my little piddle abouts were a new experience as you say because of how much rain.
Anyhow - to each and every one of you - whatever the result - I take my hat off to you - bloody top work!

Great effort Rob - was good to see you if only briefly. Well done to all who took part!
I got round the 50 in 11hr 41 ... with a big wobble (cramps) early on.
Lots of salt and steady running seemed to sort me out.
Great support along the route too - plus awesome marshalling / checkpoints.
