From googling-it appears(rather annoyingly) that i can only download from itunes to my iphone, tunes I purchased. Nearly all my itunes library on my pc I downloaded years ago from my own cds. Anyone know if I can get these onto my iphone 15-it has plenty of storage left? I do have them on an ipod. AlsoI have a garmin that can store music-don't know how-but have the manual to read. Was just wondering if your running stats are on the watch face or what music is playing is on instead. Thanks.

Here’s a clearer version:

“I’ve found (rather frustratingly) that I can only download music purchased from iTunes directly to my iPhone. Most of my iTunes library on my PC is made up of songs I ripped from my own CDs years ago. Does anyone know if I can transfer these to my iPhone 15? It has plenty of storage. I also have these songs on an old iPod.

Additionally, I have a Garmin device that can store music, though I’m not sure how to use that feature—I’ll check the manual for more details. I was also wondering if, when I’m running, my Garmin shows stats on the watch face or displays the song that’s playing. Any insights would be appreciated!”

It’s so annoying how quick tech goes out of date!

Hmm complicated - I’d attach watch to pc and in connect/explorer and find music folder to do transfer. This may not work as iTunes wasn’t mp3 format (aac?)

iTunes: No. It's an absolute pain. When I got my current phone I spent half an hour on the phone to Apple support as they insisted that their extensive library would automatically put the music from all my previously ripped CDs onto my phone. This may be true for recent mainstream stuff, but was not the case for my lovely collection of niche 80s/90s alternative stuff, and even fairly non-niche stuff appeared with only a couple of tracks from an album showing. It's still an issue: I've just checked and I can only access 3 tracks from an Adorable album, and if I try and play anything else off that album it plays a snippet and tries to get me to subscribe. I just use Spotify instead as I've been on there for years and have lots of playlists, and find a lot of new stuff on there (and bought CDs of stuff I'd discovered on Spotify until Apple effed things up with the ripping). Full Adorable album, no issues. There may be some way around the Apple problem, but I tried all sorts of stuff and didn't get anywhere.

I have a Garmin 645 music. I don't really use the music function as the sound quality from a phone is better and sometimes the Garmin cuts off the music and it's a right pain to get it started again. It will display running stats while you're running, but you can switch screen to the music from what I remember.

BTW I'm using Spotify as the music service for the Garmin.

I don’t seem to have encountered this problem and I’m probably not tech-savvy enough to help, but around 50% of my iTunes library on my pc is from ripped cd’s and the entire collection downloads automatically to my iPhone which has 256gb memory.

I limit the size of the downloads to stay within the capacity of the iPod Nano’s that I use when running by only selecting specific playlists and podcasts.
