Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Is it possible to have ITB issues on both sides?

Think about short strides, thats what helped my. Its slow at first, but the speed comes back.
If you take a shorter stride you are less inclined to land with your leg fully extended, you also endup more midfoot than heel strike.

Whilst I am sure there is a lot to be said for proper coaching on running style, these simple changes really helped me.

Hellen,

Did you have to stop running or could you run while working on your glutes?

Johnnyo... on a similar theme to shorter strides, try running with a fast cadence (approx 180bpm and above) it gives you less time to overextend and heelstrike.

No, fizz said ok to keep running. I had about 4 rest days before seeing the fizz but once go ahead given to run I was out there. I and already worked out what it was so before I saw the fizz I had been working in glutes and rolling . She gave me some more exercises and within a few days I noticed it getting a bit better. It is stil not right but doesn't really bother me now, it's 2.5 weeks since I saw the fizz and have been doing the new exercises, she did say it would take a few months to get glutes fully strong. I now feel my hip on some runs and not others and the pain is lower on a scale of 1-10

Thats true Wolfcaster, I found that the higher cadence came very naturally once I had made the transition.

Funnily enough mine had been less irritated when we did long speed sessions. Only got sore on the gentle cool down :) Fridays speed work wasn't intense enough.
