There might be undesirable effects of this: “modest” horses that mark gold but don't like to say so in the forum get lost in the noise of markers, so get few or no bets on them, then do a great time to little acclaim, and so lose interest. It's a shame if betting is reduced to piling onto anyone that shouts out in the forum.

why wouldn't Gold end after 7 days, after all this is the timescale you have in order to beat your time? If you missed the metric and want to have another go then just mark as Gold again.

Perhaps an extra rule is needed to be displayed as a horse. You need to do the minimum number of runs, and also have clicked to update times once in the last 7 days. If you don't click in for a week bets remain and you just aren't displayed until you click the gold/not gold button.

I agree with 7 days expiry, I have wasted a lot of credits as I thought the gold was current for 7 days. I am useless at this though 😕

I've amended the code so that overnight, all gold that is older than seven days will disappear. At the moment there are 24 golds in the system - this will fall to 2 after that. However, 74 of the 151 horses in the system have visited within the last 7 days. I guess it's just fairly rare for someone to be attempting to break a benchmark.
I've beaten a couple of mine this year, but didn't go into the run expecting that I would.

Thanks for implementing this without us going through the chore of voting for a new feature. I'm happy too that I don’t need to remember for more than a week which horses I have researched more deeply

I've now crammed in enough 10ks this month that you can place your bets for this Sunday's National Trust 10k. I will ensure I cover at least 10.01km 😁
Hoping for around a 5 minute reduction so it's free money. Unless it all goes wrong...
