No idea about treadmills Ian, never use them, but I imagine it would help enormously?

I have to admit that I have now been using a treadmill for 12-16 miles of my weekly running at 65% or less for many weeks now, actually since the beginning of the year. I wonder if my current improvements in speed and endurance is linked? I have been doing otehr stuff as well BUT one 4 mile HR run EVERY day... Hmmm

Possibly Ian In February only had one day free from running (28th) i did about 31 consecutive days running majority of which was EASY, obliterated my mile pb, ran my fastest 5km in a few years at the same HR (167) it should be 10-15 beats higher) so more to come there. My mile was only 161 avg but was running on my own so that should be a lot higher as well

It does work

That's it..... I'm going to HAVE to do some training.

I've been perfecting tapering for that last month (and I'm FABULOUS at it now :))

A week of skiing with small people to get done, then I'm going to do some training!!!!!

:)

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
