Based on your mileage - that's really sensible.
To get the best out of this form of training, you will want to build the length (in time) of your runs up the that hour of which you speak!! :)
But take your time over that!
But if you can't get an hour in - some running will be better than none!
And if you can fit in a Longer run - that would help too!

Pegg - thanks for that :)

If your training log is complete, the thing that really stands out - and that would benefit you massively - is that a period of sustained and consistent training would make a huge difference.
And just by doing *that*, you'll find your race times improve beyond recognition!!

I know, I know (hanging head in shame) it's just these bliddy 1,000 miles on the motorway every week that seem to get in the way...I will try harder!

I know what you mean about travelling/working getting in the way of the more important business of life...!!!
Maybe you'll have to be a bit creative about getting your training in

Hello Pegg :)

Today i did venture into the grey area. Mainly because it was a non easy day 4.22 miles. I'm finding it hard to get it over 85% for long but decided not to worry it will get there eventually. It involved hill reps but only a few (well 3) this may increase over the coming weeks. Next hard session Sunday a 10km

Hellen - when are you flying out to NYC Best of luck with that. I'm told BBc are televising it so might see you on the telly :)

Hi Sarah and Pammie

I should say now, if I ignore you, it's not that I'm really ignoring you it's just I'm not online everyday, depending on where I am working. Please don't think I'm being rude!

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
