Hiya I used to use a chest strap and train to HR years ago but now just have a wrist sensor. I’d like something more accurate as I want to return to Hr training to build aerobic base. I like the idea of the verity arm thing to avoid the chest strap, but worried it might not be as accurate as a chest strap.

I have seen some fairly positive reviews, but anyone in here have any views? I’m a bit torn, I don’t want another form of optical that isn’t very accurate. (I get the consistency thing can be useful, but I want accuracy)

I did side by side testing of the OH1 with a chest strap for steady running and it was bang on. I guess a chest strap will respond quicker to big changes up/ down and I believe DCR's testing showed that but it's a sec or two, nothing major.

When I got it initially I wore it on the outside of my upper arm and got bad results but changing it to inner upper arm fixed that.

I have one and found it very good. Like SPR I wear the sensor on inner arm.

Only minor downside is that you have to charge but its pretty decent battery so only every week or so for me and it does charge very quickly. If I have forgot to charge then a quick 10-15 mins will give you enough for a decent sized run. Think it probanly about 30-40 mins from flat to full.

Verity is 20 hours battery rather than the 12 hour battery of the the OH1 so less frequent charging.

Might be worth waiting for Black Friday if you can or just generally watching for deals. List is about £75 but I got mine on the Amazon day deals for £55.

Yes I have the Verity, I always tend to charge before it goes RED. 20 hours would do me a good 3-4 weeks at current running levels!!!

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
