Me too. HRM Tri is the best strap I've tried. No chafing and generally sensible numbers.

The (very similar) current fixed-module red HRM-RUN is the best I've used. It only occurred to me after finishing a 5 and a half hour race that it might have been a good idea to use some micropore tape under it in case it chafed. With the old straps, I'd have been bleeding by the end.

(Faintly red at the point where straps rub on me, that was all).

Oh yeah, it's just the module that's different, isn't it? It's the HRM-SWIM that has a sticky strap.

I'm interested in how long the fixed module straps last.

I'm still on HRM3 and have just bought a Polar replacement strap this week as it is cheaper. Works fine.

With the soft straps I could probably race but not worth risking the extra distraction. I did use my HRM strap in an XC last weekend as was not in race mode (was part of making sure I stayed out of race mode, also didn't wear race shorts or do race warm up) and it didn't interfere.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
