Oh I will do Eb :-)

I'll just be glad when I have recovered from the op (next wednesday). My training is delayed until 1st Feb but it's full steam ahead for the reat of the year after that :-)

Sometimes you seem to train and train and not seem to get anywhere, and then out of nowhere, you just seem to go up a gear!
No reason why you won't be the same Ian!

Interesting thread - is it just me or do most people seem to have a recovery ceiling around 150? Mine is 148. Does anyone have one that is a lot different from that?

Kieren - what was up with the RS800 as I'm thinking about getting one?

bad news about the RS800 Kieren - I've had no trouble with my RS400.
Hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

Wheabs, I beta tested the RS800sd & was impressed with it. It has a load of features. The beta worked fine & the 50 strong sample group all got the final version just before christmas.

The buttons on it are quite stiff though & the version I got had a "down" button that was so stiff that I couldn't work it. It made navigating the menus a pain & entering things like weight impossible if you push up by mistake.

Emailed Polar & they replied fast & said to send it in. I didn't want to post it over Christmas incase it went missing so I did that today

RT - I looked at the RS200sd before plumping for the 400
I seem to remember that disadvantage og the 200 is that is only remembers the detail of the last session - and as I work away from my PC, I wanted to be able to download ALL sessions done while I'm away from home
Other than that they all perform to a pretty high standard
(On my 3rd Polar now!)

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
