Outdoor drying season for many coming to an end sadly I guess. We’re entering the ‘is it worth pegging out’? time of the year. I guess there’ll always be the ‘bigger it, I’ve washed and it’s going out til it is dry’ faction mind - kind of the laundry equivalent of wild swimmers or fell runners :-)

Line-dried washing that’s been out on a sunny crisp autumn or winter day is wonderful. That lovely fresh airy ozone smell YEEEEESSSSSS!!

I love it when the laundry freezes on the line. Reminds me of the bit in the Little House on the Prairie books when they put the sheets out to dry in winter and have to bring them in frozen like boards. And then I give thanks that I have central heating and a washing machine and no mangle :)

For lovers of the art of hanging the washing out:

Weather forecast: Shall I hang my washing or not ? Check here:

bbc.co.uk

Terminology: 'Fluffing' -- Going out and runninng your hands over the washing just to feel whether still moist. Sometimes not needed but we all like to fluff

'Melvyn' - where you run you fingers through your washing, you think it's damp but you're not sure. It could be dry. You leave out or take in? you've done a Melvyn'.

Also for sharing photos of 'Extreme pegging'. Plastic or wooden they are all embraced here :)

lifeyourway.net Some top tips to help increase your enjoyment of this wonderful past time :)
