Taking into consideration the time for the HMers to cross the line (say 15mins for 2hr HMers), I think the marathon leaders (say 2:20) would catch the 2hr HMers before the HMers turn for home (and likely catch the 3hr HMers before the finish). Clearly there will be a lot of people aiming for sub2 HM. Similarly, I think the sub 2:45 marathoners would catch 3:00 HMers (but there's likely to be significantly less of them). I can see why they've done it... but starting the marathon after 10am is making it less appealing for PB chasers (if the weather is still warm).

My rationale for doing it was it was a spring marathon with cool weather and a flat, fast course. Now that it's autumn there are plenty of other options on the table for that time of year, including a couple I am already signed up for.
