will be good to catch up chaps.

Nelly - can I abuse your local knowledge please? I'm thinking about an airbnb. It's years since I was in South Manchester often but if I get a place in Didsbury / Timperley / Altrincham I can't go too far wrong can I.....I can get the Metro on the morning of the race (can get a lift to the station so don't have to have one right on the doorstep). Thanks!

Not a problem WW... Timperley and Altrincham both have Metrolink stops on the direct line to Old Trafford cricket ground, so no issues. Didsbury (& East Didsbury) has a Metrolink stop on the line to Trafford Bar (which is about 0.5mile from Old Trafford), so pretty convenient too.

Thinking about it, the only thing to be careful about in Timperley/Altrincham is getting an AirBnB on the “other side” of the race route to the Metrolink could cause issues as the roads are usually closed by 7am-ish when you want a lift to the Metrolink (I used to jog the 1mile from my old house in Timperley to the Metrolink on race morning because I had to cross the race route).

If you want any specific advice on a particular Airbnb relative the race route / Metrolink etc then just send me a link in an Fmail.

Great stuff, thanks!

I'll book somewhere and then at some point I'd best think about a training plan.

Prompted by WW I just booked an airbnb on the south side of the city. Handy also for escaping to airport afterwards. Owner says they had a marathoner this year too. Had been planning to drive down early in the morning this time but it will be much easier and less stressful to go the night before.

I've booked the midland. Is this anywhere near the start/finish?

KP unless they have changed the start when I did it, it’s very near Old Trafford and the Media Centre. No idea where the Midland is.

the Midland is dead central - I stayed near there when I did it in 2013. It's a short metro ride out to Old Trafford for the start, no issue at all.

Welcome katypie. The race village (bag storage etc) and finish line is at Old Trafford cricket ground which is about 2.5miles from the Midland Hotel in the City Centre, however, as WW says you can get a Metrolink tram from almost outside the hotel to the race village (total journey time 15mins). The race start is 5mins walk from Old Trafford cricket ground, closer to the football ground.
