Lost a total of over 3 minutes to a pit stop and then at 12 and 21 miles to discard left then right socks because of really sore toes. Loved the support from the spectators but found the course bland and in some places very crowded.

I ended up with a PW by almost 20mins, and a course worst by over an hour, but given my recent (lack of) training it was about what I expected. I had three gripes with yesterday... 1) the course is too narrow in places for the number or runners (in particular at 10miles after the roundabout going into Timperley), 2) having to queue for 5-10mins to get out of the Race Village because other runner's friends and family insisted on waiting at the exit blocking all the other runners trying to exit, and 3) the lack of small t-shirts.

For anybody interested next years race will be 7th April 2019 and entries open (£45 for the first 5,000 entries) at 10am tomorrow. Perhaps more interestingly for at least a few who follow this thread is the "Legends Club" for those of us who have completed 4 GMM's or more, meaning we get discounted entry and a "gold number" greatermanchestermarathon.com
