Gus, just like everybody else on Fetch, as demonstrated by the reaction to the recent site update, I don't like change
In all seriousness, they've added more corners to the route and I think it will break up the rhythm of the run. Specifically, one of the roads on that rectangle at 2miles doesn't look very wide (especially for that early in the race). The stupid little loop around Sale at 6/7miles (presumably to add a bit of distance). And then 16.5-19miles (again presumably to add a bit of distance) won't see much support as they're back streets.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with the two relays (which by the way I can't see any mention of on the new website, apart from on the FAQs and entry pages), as the halfway point is no longer in Altrincham, and the new route doesn't pass the previous final change-over point of the 4-person relay!

Yes - I'd forgotten about the bridge and the tides bit. (Not that I am thinking of a marathon in any case, but it might mean the Race Angels will struggle as they covered both races this year).

AL you can always do the Rock n Roll half in Liverpool later in the year.
I got a discount code, because I did a short version in 2014, but can't use it as I have deferred from last year (which I paid full price for).

monsenb - have you emailed them and asked if they'd refund you the difference? Even if they say no you've not lost anything.
Apparently the course changes were forced due to the new Metrolink extension to the Trafford Centre and works that will be in place along Trafford Wharf Road. The course measurement is scheduled to be done in July.

I will try that Nelly but to be fair, I was quite glad they had the option to defer at the time. I was injured this year, and I know not all races allow that kind of thing.

I bit the bullet and entered on Friday (before I'd seen Nelly's post about the course changes). Hoping the new course won't break up the rhythm of the race too much - asides from the baggage debacle this year I enjoyed the race, and it's a good excuse for me to visit Manchester, as I really like the city.

jennyh - I'm sure it'll be alright, but as I said above, I'm just not a big fan of change
One thing I've just realised is that because MUFC are at home on the day before the marathon then there'll likely be more demand for hotel rooms with many football fans and runners needing hotel rooms. It might be worth getting in rooms booked asap if you can.

it'll also probably mean that any signage put up in advance will be interfered with!

Well decided to take plunge and take the early bird discount. I have now done Manchester twice (2014/2015), Chester and Edinburgh. Manchester is the best. Most support and although not as pretty as Chester I have enjoyed it more than other two.
Did not even bother looking at website for route change et al. It will probably be ok. what the hell....
