MN - TBF I'm pretty sure the date was decided a few weeks ago. When they mistakenly sent out the "entries are open" email, it was possible to see on the RiderHQ website the date was provisionally set as 2nd April at that time. For those that can't get onto Facebook, it's worth noting that "All finishers from 2013 to 2016 will be sent their discounted entry code in advance of entries opening." |

I received the discount code email yesterday evening. I can't say that I'm impressed by the fact that the discount code expires on 15th July, a full 8 1/2 months before the race. The entry link given in the email doesn't work. It's almost as if Xtra Mile are trying to limit their losses by making it difficult to use the discount whilst attempting to make it seem as if they are trying to help us. Given their repeated insincere "apologies" after the 2016 race, I'm not surprised. |

Flatlander, the entry link won't work because entries don't open until 11am this morning.

Flatlander, the e-mail says entries open at 11am today so I wouldn't expect the website to be live yet. To be fair to Xtra mile as well I wouldn't expect anything different with the discount code. They have always had increases in price closer to the event. Presumably because costs will go up accordingly and with the amount of people who will have a discount code the longer you give more people a chance to share those codes around if they don't use it. I imagine that if they sold every place at £35 no matter when people entered they would make a loss. Some would say that is fair considering what has happened, but it doesn't create a sustainable event moving forward. The above goes slightly against what I am about to say though in that I think all discussion on 2013-16 issues should be put in the 2016 thread where there is much more discussion on it already as per what Nelly suggested initially. |
