They pick people who will make good telly, and people to show a good spread of age/ethnicity/sexuality. One of my mates is convinced he didn’t get picked for Crystal Maze (a while back now!) because he was too good at the audition. People who breeze through every challenge don’t make a good show that we can all shout at!

larkim Oct 2021 2:02pm, 13 Oct 2021 15,726 posts	0 larkim That's of course true Meglet, but for a show which is intended to showcase talented bakers (even if there is an overriding need to ensure that the selected bakers are both entertaining and diverse) Maggie really didn't demonstrate her prowess (which I've no doubt is there). I'd still reckon she was likely one of the best bakers they had in the auditions.
