Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

and what about " two weeks next Wednesday" which is a classic from my mum?
I've given up and insist on dates to be given when she tries to tell me what appointments she needs me to taxi her to.

This Sunday: 13/4
Next Sunday: 20/4

This Tuesday: 15/4 (unless clearly talking past tense)
Next Tuesday: 22/4

Two weeks next Wednesday - this would be the date that would be in two weeks on the date of next Wednesday:
Next Wednesday: 16/4
Two weeks next Wednesday: 30/4

Sidebar: This Wednesday doesn't currently exist, it's renamed today.

Side-sidebar - my phone's insistence in capitalising Next is doing my head in...

Pity poor German where you can't distinguish between the next town (in your direction of travel) and the nearest town (which might be behind you).

But you can distinguish between the same as in an exact copy and the same as in the one I had in my hand yesterday.

If I were explaining my interpretation of this/next day of the week, I’d suggest that we’re simply in the habit of dropping the word “week’s”.

This Wednesday = This week’s Wednesday.

Next Wednesday = Next week’s Wednesday.

What happens if it's Thursday? Does that mean this can be past or future (or even present) depending on the context? Bit like Chris's German example above.
