Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

In English, apparently the N'T suffix, or 'M, 'VE

In French, Y & EN, SE, so s'en aller has two of them

In Italian s'en aller becomes andarsene where andar(e) = to go, SE is the same as in French and NE is EN in French. je m'en vais becomes io me ne vado.

The Latin enclitic particle -ne, added to the word that is to be emphasised, implies a question that expects neither an affirmatory nor a negative answer.

'meministine me in senatu dicere?' 'Do you remember I spoke [or 'said [this]'] in the senate?' [Cicero, Cat.]

Does it include suffixes which indicate a diminutive form - e.g. in Dutch, -je added to a word makes it a little one. En fluitje = literally a little whistle, actually a 200ml glass of beer instead of the standard 250ml.

Sounds right, along with things like -ling in duckling or gosling.

Italian forenames: Carlo, Carlito, Maria, Marietta, and many others. Camera, cameretta; I had a look at more variants here:

I quite like the potential irony of picture of the placard from the protesting student in this BBC article, if English was one of their subjects...

I hope that was written by someone without GCSE English. But I imagine the author and their boss are graduates of our world-beating universities.
