I was shocked in the supermarket, perusing my "newfound" gf options :( Mind, it doesn't surprise me... Everything is adulterated with unhealthy substances these days, unless you make everything from scratch...
I can see a once weekly baking day coming on...

Ah! I looked at promise pittas tonight in Sainsburys on my way home but Bfree ones were on offer cheaper. Are the good? Promise?

Went to Asda tonight, my local one is huge and had a reasonable free from section. Ended up in tears over something silly...

It's been about 12 years since I had to go dairy free, and one of the things I miss is Horlicks... Used to have it as a child, but the powder is made with milk, so even made up with oat milk or the like, it contained to much milk for me.

Tonight I find they now make a vegan version, of the joy! Till ishep pointed out it is malt.... And sure enough, now I'm GF I can't drink it. 4 weeks ago I'd have probably finished the whole last in a weekend... After waiting 12 years! Oh I cried!

I am wondering when going to the shops is going to stop feeling so depressing 😢

Tesco, Sainsburys and Ocado stock it NE.

I totally get where you're coming from Em - I still have days like that.

I don’t get much of that Em - I’m now 5 years post coeliac diagnosis.

I focus on what I can have and enjoy that.

I have the occasional brief twinge - a wish that I could have an easier time eating out or visiting my family in France but don’t let it last. I’ve got used to not having much choice when eating out, though I don’t eat out much (probably would eat out more if not GF or didn’t have my dog).

We have a gluten free bakery near us (with a lot of dairy free stuff too) - I don’t go often but it’s nice going somewhere where you can choose anything with no worries. The lady who bakes there has coeliac disease herself so it is a total GF zone.

I like the sound of your bakery Pen - what's it called? I don't eat meat or peppers which I find adds to the issue when trying to eat out.

After 35 years of coeliac i still miss freshly baked bread. And GF pork pies, for some strange reason.

It’s called the Lily Tree Bakery in Newcastle LMH.

They don’t bake bread but stock some (I’ve not had the bread). They make all kinds of other things - doughnuts, pastries, cakes etc both savoury and sweet.
