Yes, someone told me Asda. I hardly ever go to Hereford, but checked out their gf range a few weeks ago as I was passing and I was impressed! Must make a point of heading back to stock up!
Also: my fave Dutch cookies: bitterkoekjes, are gf!!! And they have gf speculaas here but most drop (liquorice) contains wheat :(

Asda and Sainsburys were selling Schar gf speculoos this year Han.

Sainsburys are my favourite for HXB but they only sell them seasonally.

Going back to the itchy body parts comments from the previous page, that was how I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease 35+ years ago.

I don't remember having bloating or stomach issues (though this has been an issue since) but I suddenly developed an unbelievably itchy rash behind my knees, the inside of my elbows and on the tops of my feet. They were small, very red blister-like bumps. Turns out it was dermatitis herpetiformis - in those days it was treated with the same medication that they used to treat leprosy!

I must admit to being lax when it comes to avoiding gluten. I avoid regular pasta, bread, pastry, etc, but can tolerate (even though I'm not suppose to) foods with a little wheat in them. But i can tell when I reach my tolerance level because I begin to feel itchy in the same places on both sides of my body - these days it's the top of my feet and on my triceps. Always a symmetrical itch.

It's easily relieved by antihistamines, combined with trying a bit harder to avoid gluten.

So all of the above was to say it's not unknown to have symmetrical itchiness with a gluten allergy and perhaps it's no coincidence that, for those fetchies, the itches have now stopped once gluten was given up.

PS if you think gluten-free bread and pasta isn't great today, you should have tried it 35 years ago. Bread was like eating sawdust!!

Fascinating to hear the accounts of itchiness - I've never thought about the correlation, but often have itchy feet if I've not been making the best choices...

I think I manifested with gluten intolerance from the moment I moved to the UK because that was when my allergies started. Such a shame it was dealt with by prescribing anti-histamins rather than finding the cause! 28 years of symptom suppression and potentially lasting damage done...

And I don't mean anti-histamins! I mean the heavy doses of different painkillers, opioids, nsaids, steroids and a lifetime of chronic pain!

I think there is great mis-understanding about the different types/grades of gluten intolerance and its effect on general health, not just bowels!

Also: because of my genetic predisposition to cancer, I have been extremely careful only eating organic and home grown. I also look at additives and a lot of GF "processed" foods I cannot have. schär seems to be particularly bad on the gums, transfats, chemical binders :(

Oh really? Well, I quite like the Schär bread but it's way too expensive and I only buy it when absolutely necessary. Probably never now I know this!
