Ah okay - I thought there might have been a collab as I think TD produced at least a couple of their albums

We Are Scientists last night at Manchester Academy 2. Support was Sean McVerry, who it transpires is part of their writing team.

Underwhelming gig - the venue is small and sweaty with poor sound and acoustics. McVerry was pleasant, but without knowing any of his material beforehand (or even knowing who the support would be beforehand) it was head bob territory. A quick scan of Spotify appeared to show that none of the tracks he played were present, so I guess that's that.

WAS were playing the Brain Thrust Mastery album followed by some extras - I love the album but it didn't translate well to a gig, with a couple of tracks really dragging along. The crowd also seemed a bit muted - a few people seemed more interested in visiting the bar as often as possible, with a lot of people just not really seeming into it. The gig ended half an hour before curfew, suggesting that the band felt this too. A shame.

Special shout out to the prick next to me who kept whistling (horrible piercing whistle, at very regular intervals) seemingly to entertain/annoy his girlfriend. After I asked him to give it a rest I realised how much my ears were ringing - from him, not the loud gig I was at. Hope he didn't slip on the ice on his way home and crack his face open or anything...

Next gig is Everything Everything in a couple of weeks in Sheffield - hopefully will be better by all metrics :)

Just got a call from youngest - his weekly update - he went to see a band last night in Newcastle. Really small venue. He said the entire place was a moshpit, you couldn't *not* mosh. He said his shoes came off! A few minutes later someone came over to him with his shoes. "Were you looking for these?" :-)
