Not amazingly well here. Pulled my calf at the start of the month and haven't been able to run, which is very frustrating as I want to start training for Abingdon. A cautions few miles yesterday suggest it may be nearly fixed though.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

How are you doing Nellers? Has the medical profession come round to the idea that you aren't dead yet?

Indeed, Moley, but only just. I've got an appointment tomorrow for them to explain how I don't have a problem at all and I can start running again and also why they thought there was a problem and it took so long to resolve things. Full of cold at the mo though so I'm not going to start running until that's cleared up and I can breathe again. I've waited 7 weeks. Another few days won't make that much difference.
After that it's a few weeks of feeling my way back into regular running then assess where I am and work out where I go from there.

Hope it goes well. I'm going to start slowly building up some easy miles for the next couple of weeks and keep my fingers crossed. I think it should be OK.

good luck getting started again, both of you
i've started running again after yet another hiatus, keeping my fingers crossed that's the last one - the inhalers seems to be working although i'm still a long way from 'right'.
but i am now back to 10k as i did the bupa london 10k on monday - and i managed to just squeak in under the hour
i'm still paying for the extra effort required today (not aching just not feeling great) so i've had a rest day and may have another one tomorrow.
i've got kintbury 5 mile race on sunday with some of the club girls.
i'm trying to make my running as social and race-filled as possible to get me back on track (races won't all be done flat out!). going to keep the upper limit to 8 miles for a while and just get back into the swing of it.

Nothing wrong with rest days rd. Hope it goes well for you too.
I'm in the middle of reading “Feet in the Clouds”. While we may all seem to be in a state of some decrepitude on here, it's nothing compared to some of the things that have happened to the great fell runners. But they don't give up, which I find mildly inspiring.

I've also had a bit of inconsistent training. After the marathon, my legs were pretty mashed for a few weeks. Anything over about 3-4 miles was a struggle and to date the longest run I've done is 12 miles. This will have to change over the next few weeks as I have a marathon distance trail run in June.
On the other hand, I have been doing a bit of speedy running - a couple of track meets for St. Mary's where I did 1500m and 400m races, a couple of track sessions, two mile races and a 10k.
I did strain my gluteus maximus tendon though last week which made the Westminster Mile a doubt. I had a massage from my osteo yesterday which was pretty tender but hopefully it will allow me to do the Last Friday 5k in Hyde Park tomorrow.

Blimey, it's like an A+E department in 'ere We particularly await Nellers' report from the hospital (or the distant sound of a bolt gun, as appropriate...)
Molers, I think easing back into it is the sensible approach; calf strains can be a right bugger to get right.
RD, nice running at the 10k! I think your plan to make it fun and 'race yourself fit' is a good one. Stealth training!
Rob, so that's sort of like intervals, but just one rep Short races really scare me, I think anything quicker than 10k pace would kill me! Hope you're sorted in time for the 5k.
I'm into tri training now, which mostly involves learning to swim and cycle again. It's coming back, which is handy as I have an IM in 14 weeks...
My running is being loosely based on the masters three runs a week plan out of Run Faster from 5k to the Marathon by two blokes; I'm sure they have names, but they elude me for the moment I'm idly eyeing a trip to Frankfurt in October for the marathon; might just be recovered from the IM, Frankfurt is easy to get to, has a really nice vibe and the course is pancake flat. Hmmm...
