It was good, but totally agree some things were rushed. Sansa got what she wanted, Jon is free and everyone else seems happy. The throne being melted was really good, didn't expect that at all.

Even without any source material to work with, I'm sure GRRM would have given the show writers a brief outline how he saw everything panning out. There were a few moments of obvious fan service I didn't like but I'm happy overall with the conclusion despite how they went about telling it. It wasn't outrageous or false.

I honestly felt great at the end. I know many will kick it and I agree 100% with the 'rushed' opinions. But in the end it felt like everything was where it needed to be. John is the King beyond the wall in all but name, Sansa has the sexy outfits, Really Tyrion is King in the south. Arya with a clear horizon ahead of her. Drogon causing trouble elsewhere. The Unsullied lost forever...
Quite happy.

I had a couple of hunches. I watched the last episode of season 7 again before season 8 started and felt sure by some time in episode 1 of season 8 that Sansa was being set up to be Queen of the North. Aside from that, quite early I had a feeling that only one of Dany & Jon would make it to the end. I thought Bran and Council granting Sansa independence so easily wasn't handled very well - Sansa: 'The North will not bend the knee, the North will be independent'. Bran: 'Oh, alright then, whatever you say'. Why didn't Yara push for independence of the Iron Islands - she was loyal to Dany, even after her death and had no reason to want to be ruled over by Bran. In summary, the final season wasn't bad, but certainly wasn't great either.

Sansa: the north have fought and died and they wont bend the knee to a king (even though it's a stark). Instead they will all bend the knee to me as queen. (Also a stark).
Her speech was pointless, just her wanting power. She has gone full circle and manipulated it like Cersei did. Which was why she told Tyrion about Jon.
You make a good point about yara though. She wants to see Jon dead and then happily accepts who she believes to be his brother become king.

Here’s a quote from GRRM’s blog today. Although I will have to go and look up the Scarlett O’Hara details I think he’s said it all really
‘Book or show, which will be the “real” ending? It’s a silly question. How many children did Scarlett O’Hara have?
How about this? I’ll write it. You read it. Then everyone can make up their own mind, and argue about it on the internet.’

I'm no Gone With The Wind expert but I presume Scarlett had X kids in the book and Y in the film...
Random questions that didn't get cleared up in the finale necessarily...
* Is there a rationale for a Night's Watch now, or is it a just-in-case force?
*What happened to Meera Reed - is she still alive in the show canon?
*Safe to assume that Ellaria Sand died in the penultimate episode or could she still be alive in a Red Keep dungeon somewhere?
*Are Tyrion and Sansa still technically married or is there a non-consumation expiry date for marriages? (and if not, is Tyrion Queen's Consort of the North?)

Maybe in sending him north, they knew the nights watch were not there and he would get to wander off with the wildlings

So the wheel is broken as the king can't have children... but the three eyed raven lives for thousands of years?
Did the three eyed raven manipulate events to gain the throne? "You were exactly where you were meant to be"

I was surprised by the Night's Watch comment from Tyrion - I'd assumed during the Dragonpit conversation that Jon would be exiled beyond the 6/7 Kingdoms - i.e. beyond the wall.
It could be that an official Night's Watch posting was to enforce his Last Targaryen status, and to preclude the emergence of any recognised baby Targs...
