An article on the astonishing lack of English managers in the English Premier League. bbc.co.uk Or maybe not that astonishing: since the EPL was formed in 1992, no English manager has won it. The last second place finish was in 1996 (Kevin Keegan, Newcastle Utd). The last English manager to win a major English* trophy with an EPL team was Harry Rednapp (FA Cup, Portsmouth, 2008). In that time, 90% of Serie A titles have been won by Italian managers. *Steve McLaren won the Dutch League with Twenty Enschede in 2010. |

I'm guessing if you added Scottish managers to the mix it would improve things? Alex Ferguson, Alex McLeish and Kenny Dalglish have all won major trophies since 2010 (yes managed to get a Birmingham City allusion in there )

Indeed, non-English but UK managers change the success and overall figures quite a bit. Another stat: English managers have only managed for 75 games in the Champions League. Italian managers: over 1000 games. |
