Hugely flattering scoreline. But our defence seemed to fall asleep on 4 of 5 occasions which is not normal for us. First time this season we’ve conceded more than 2 in a league game. Its an anomaly, not a sign.

Clarets 0-0 Weymouth

Worst first 45 minutes I’ve ever seen. Marginal improvement in the second half but they could have played all night and still be goalless.

Cold, strong wind, driving rain. Hideous afternoon.

XG is a great stat for people who don't go to watch football matches.

Although to be fair if you're watching your team remotely via stats only and you have an xg of 0.01, you can be fairly certainly you won't be scoring a hurry (well certainly Birmingham weren't last season, although I suppose I didn't need bogus stats to tell me that).

I always thought of xG as a manager’s stat. Either that or the sterilisation of the sport as entertainment.

Like almost all football stats, it is only a guide. The only football stat that matters is scoring more goals than the opposition.

Think Weymouth might have had a negative xG yesterday. Don't think they turned up expecting to score any goals. They reached the landmark handsomely.

And to prove the point, United xG 0.93 Bournemouth xG 0.18.

Current score United 0 Bournemouth 1.

Ah, the beautiful game, remember that? Let's put down some jumpers and have a socially-distanced kickabout. Long shots only, and no hugging and kissing.
