Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

No the exercise god isn’t telling you anything, although it can feel like that. I think letting the ears settle again and then coming back to it is good. Hope you get some great cycling done.

Is there a reliable Garmin app for counting pool lengths?

I've loaded Connect IQ Pool Swim on to my FR235 but it's extremely inaccurate, yesterday it suggested I'd swum 86 lengths which I knew was way out but I hadn't kept count. Today I did count and it's telling me 81 rather than the actual 60!

Probably not helpful Goofee but I found the Garmin swim watch pretty reliable and cheapish and I think there is now a new version available. My Suunto 9 is also pretty good as long as I let it run and don't bother with the lap button - also has a swim clock face which is ace for doing intervals

Not sure about apps I'm afraid, but there's some things you can do to keep your lap counting more reliable: stick to one stroke per length; kick off and glide at the wall (the accelerometer detecting this is key to the watch recognising you've turned); if you stop for a rest, try not to move your watch arm too much (adjusting goggles, drinking etc) so that it doesn't think you're still moving.

I've got a Garmin Swim 2 and it's super accurate.

Okay, thanks for the info, for the time being at least it looks like keeping time with the app and counting laps myself!

The Garmin swim app on the VA4 is pretty good for pool swimming and records the distance accurately. I would love an open water app if anybody can recommend one.

The wonderful Fetch has added Lido as a swim training category, I should have requested it sooner!
