Hi What was your first job (school, uni, Saturday job, part time, full time, eeal career - you choose!) and the song that goes with it? (This is from a a theme last night on a great radio show we have up here in Scotland bbc.co.uk ) Some of us worked in call centres, and there was no music playing (obviously!) I worked in IT support, and when Windows 95 came out, it was the first one that had "multimedia" on it, including a music video. It was "Good Times" by Edie Brickell. So for all the call centre worker drones please?! 🙂 G Or Do I win youngest because that was Windows 95 (1995!) Obviously that wasn't my first job, cos I ain't young! Going back a bit earlier then, I remember a summer job as a teenager with my mate Russell (now a DJ in Ibiza!) working on a building site sorting out the granite cobbles from the rubble in Altens in Aberdeen, and we were paid £1 per tonne (yes tonne!) of cobbles separated out. Don't think I've ever been fitter! Katrina and the Waves, Walking on Sunshine was the happy, summer tune that encapsulated hard work and happy times. 🙂 G |

I was a kitchen porter in the local hospital kitchen, so basically washing up and cleaning, it was 1990 and i remember mopping the floors to a particular song but the title and artist escape me, i'll have to think about it.

Years later on a Saturday lunchtime I was in the toilet of the Flower Pot pub in Derby and heard the song. The toilet was close to the large back room where live bands played in the evening. Tom was on that night and was sound checking

Excellent song DT. I would have thought it was earlier than 1983, but of course, it doesn't have to be a song that goes with the date - could just be the favourite of the person in control of the sound system! G

Not strictly my first job, but working as a waiter in a local brewery's attempt at a carvery, the one bit of music I can absolutely remember is the Christmas CD. Burned into my head with each of the classics of the time (probably around 1989) in order on repeat again, and again, and again.
