The results look weird because Aaron Scott seems to have got a place on the day. Possibly because he's a Saucony sponsored athlete. That's why the runners didn't go up by as many places after the first was DQ because Aaron was added in later. You can see him and another runner wearing official bibs with no names printed on them in the race photos.

Someone from my club came in 5th, I think, I've lost track.

Fair dos Flatlander, he doesn't seem to be that bothered about it.

Pressed post too soon.

Hence my interest! Anyway we thought Aaron had been DQ but I suspect it's actually due to the late entry.

There were several people with reissued bibs that the finish time didn't register and it took awhile to get their results.

Aaron Scott is a previous winner and was supposed to be running in the "Big Half" in London. I would imagine that snow related transport problems prompted the late switch.

So, if the event sponsors can enter someone last minute, it seems a bit harsh to throw the book at someone who ran even faster?

Baroness we had that problem a couple of years ago when a husband 'won' his wife's age category :-(. The fall-out from that was what prompted our publicity to members about the possible consequences of running under someone else's name.

There's a difference between someone who is a late entry as themselves with the organiser's approval, to someone who takes another person's entry and runs as that person without the knowledge of the organisers.

The problem with "ringers" is that it allows the opportunity for cheating, and could cause major treatment problems in a medical incident.

Btw Flatlander I work with one of the NJs you paced yesterday and she said you were lovely. The guided tour was much appreciated! 🌟😊

Thanks MzG. Was that Amanda or Jackie? Hope they were pleased with their runs and enjoyed the race.

Interestingly, Welsh athletics rep reckons that in Wales both would have a 12 ban from competition.

Why, you may ask? Well, it seems he ran the course fair and square, in 1:06:52. A more than decent...
