From Po10 - he's a student - and he has previously been first finished at Cambridge parkrun (and indeed been first at all 5 parkruns he has done.)

He is a transport planner, :-)G. His FB suggests he is not very contrite (I'll leave anyone to look it up themselves). And his RunBritain (14:17 at Armagh!) suggests he would have been 100% aware that what he did was a no-no.

Hah, he works about 50 metres away form me.
HellsBells - I'm told that they disqualified someone else yesterday, but re-instated him today, which is why your friend went to 3rd and then 4th.

Actually, my first thought was, who as a regular athlete would be stupid enough to do that, then I thought, in this day and age, who would be stupid enough to have a public Facebook profile, err.....
From his public Facebook wall...
"Victory at the Cambridge Half Marathon (66).
DQ'd for running under my boss's name š
Someone start a campaign for reinstatement.
A big training week done, now bring on the Intercounties šš".
So, a regular athele, but obviously not realising at all the trouble he could have got himself into. In all seriousness, as a member of an athletic club is there any punishment for this? As an unregistered swap is it actually cheating, even though he owned up, so could he be looking at some kind of ban?

i certainly feel that he should get a ban; heās blatantly broken UK athletics rules and (not that this bit matters) clearly isnāt at all contrite.
āTried to contact the organizers but no replyā- probably cos they were busy organizing the race? Most races are very clear upfront about what is allowed with regards to transfers
Iāve seen so many people lately moaning about places āgoing to wasteā - thatās the risk you accept when you enter a race that doesnāt allow deferrals/transfers. And all races rely on a certain number of no shows...

Our club warns of disciplinary action if anyone is found running under someone else's name. We've talked about docking points from club series races up to suspending people's membership.

I saw the winner's result and age category and thought that was too good to be true.
My shame is that he is a member of my club, and has brought the club into disrepute. As a member of my club, he should have been fully aware that what he was doing was prohibited.
I have written to my club chairman, bringing this act and the shame it has brought upon us to his attention, and asking him to take action.

As a member of C & C (or at least he is wearing one of their vests) he should have known better and I think C & C might also want to think about any disrepute it may have inadvertently brought upon the club.
And to think I worry when I am registering us for one of our low key club trail races from a pub and get given mine and BaronBRs number and then spend the whole race worrying that I might have got them the wrong way round and am actually running under BaronBR's number (it's never happened because I always check the with the registration person about 5 times before I leave the desk........)
