Hi All. I’ve recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but can’t find any existing chats on Fetch related to this condition. Wondered if any of my fellow Fetchies also suffer from this and how they deal with it and their running.

At the moment I’m finding it very difficult. I also have psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory arthritis similar to rheumatoid arthritis which has knocked me back for the past few years. Trying to build up my fitness and distance as love the long distance.

Really sorry to hear that PLB. My son's MIL has it and it's pretty tough. Don't have any insight I'm afraid, but wishing you all the best for treatment and best outcomes. G

Hi PLB. No personal experience here, but I’ve worked with some people with fibromyalgia. Understanding modern pain science and working with your body is generally helpful. My favourite recommendation for accessible information on pain science is Lorimer Moseley and David Butler’s books especially “explain pain: the Protectometer” and there are videos on YouTube - Lorimer Moseley’s talks are pretty engaging.

There is a personal trainer “The fibro guy” who claims good results and one of my clients did go to see him and got improvement. He has a website and it looks like he uses a specific exercise program with pain science.

He claims evidence based methods but I don’t know any details or what the evidence or method is apart from remembering a client who went to see him after I saw your post :-)

I hope you find things that help.

This video is long, but good and very much worth a watch to understand pain.

Hi, yes I was diagnosed a few years ago.

They think it is sparked off by a life changing event ie: death of a loved one etc. Mine was a nervous breakdown back in 2009. Taken forever to finally get a diagnosis largely as it wasnt really recognised.

My main symptons are depression and anxiety, muscle cramps and aches allover.

No cure apparently. They say a keto diet is helpful but not gone down that route before.

Magnesium supplements and tumeric I take. think they help.

Does it also enable you to be a district winning running champ and all round amazing dude? Interesting side effects! heart

Need to speak to my daughter in law and find out if she's had a diagnosis yet. Some great suggestions there from PenW. Hope you can find some things that help PLB. :-) G
