Those fields are big and someones property! I did pick up a jewel in a local farmer's yard, because I know him and the dogs know me. There was one in the ex hb's field too I could snap up and I know some local farmers don't mind me popping over a fence in and out an inaccessible field from one with a footpath but it is not ideal...
