Lots of people making a good start. I think we all know in our heart of hearts that if we eat right, we will move in the right direction. And one thing we can probably agree on is that eating lots of sugary processed snacks isn't going to help us.

I aim not to eat between meals. During the day it's not usually an issue any more, but I can be an evening nibbler.

My nibble issue time is morning. I rate porridge about 8am but come 10 and ravenous and need to eat again. After lunch time I am fine and the evenings are the same.

I often find myself starving a couple of hours after a cereal or porridge breakfast. However, when I have a protein based breakie (eg a couple of boiled eggs) I can easily last until lunchtime.

Somehow I've managed to lose 3lbs this week. It feels fraudulent in a way because I haven't been following a particular eating plan, nor have I started running which I promised myself I would. I think I'll hang on till next weeks weigh in before I accept that one.

I have however been reading a fascinating book (First Bite: how we learn to eat) which is shedding light on lots of my behaviour around food and the huge takeaway (terrible pun - sorry) message for me is that the bad habits I've learned can be unlearned. I would recommend a read if it if you haven't already. I think it's only £2 for the kindle version ATM.

3lb loss. Dry January has helped. No snacking. Pleased as I have a mild ankle sprain so no running for a couple of weeks.

Cuddy
Well done all :-) Unfortunately I'm going to buck the trend and report a 3lb gain. Everything kind of went shitty this week. I hung on until mid week and then the stress got to me, ate a bit of chocolate on Thursday, had palpitations at my desk at work on Friday morning, ate some more, spent 8 hours with my friend in the chemo suite on Saturday and ate like a pig. When a friend who has a 50/50 chance of surviving cancer says she wants to take a break and go to Carluccios, you go, and then I just joined in all the bread and pasta and dessert. I even forgot to weigh in yesterday so did it this morning. So boo. I really need to learn to manage stress better. Oh and I need to quit my job, naturally.
